Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt has showered praise on Rahul Dravid for his great “organizational skills” and “technical knowledge” of the game. The 36-year-old feels that the young Indian players, who are currently gearing up for the upcoming limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, are lucky to train under the watchful eyes of the legendary batsman.
Notably, in the absence of regular coach Ravi Shastri, the 48-year-old was named the head coach of Team India for the Sri Lanka tour.
Dravid earlier coached the India A and India U-19 sides before taking over as the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
Lauding BCCI’s decision to acquire the services of Rahul Dravid for the Sri Lanka series, Salman Butt said, “India are hiring specialists to train their players. Not only specialists in cricket skills but also the ones who are organizational specialists, who can guide teams in the right direction. Rahul Dravid has been the captain as well.”
“Dravid obviously has organizational skills. Adding to it, his technical expertise. Dravid has always proved himself in the toughest conditions. He knows what to teach the youngsters since he has gained that experience,” Butt said on his YouTube channel.
“I don’t think that there is any pressure on Dravid. It is an opportunity for him to create future champions of Indian cricket.”
Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan & Co. are currently sweating hard in the nets to put a strong performance in the white-ball series against Lankans, comprising 3 ODIs and as many T20Is.
