The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the 20-member squad for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka which comprises three ODIs and as many T20 Internationals. While the swashbuckling opener Shikhar Dhawan was asked to lead the team, experienced pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been picked as his deputy.
Moreover, the likes of Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Nitish Rana, Chetan Sakariya, and Krishnappa Gowtham were also selected.
After his selection, Ruturaj Gaikwad revealed about the dressing room talks he had with legendary wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni and former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis.
The 24-year-old batsman recalled how the CSK skipper helped him in calming his nerves when he started the IPL 2020 season on a bad note.
“I think with Mahi Bhai, whatever he speaks it is always eye-catching and I had heard that he spoke about me in the post-match presentation and all, I don’t talk much with him, he knows that I’m a quiet and shy guy,” Gaikwad told PTI.
“Even last year when I started badly in IPL, he was the one who came up first and asked me to relax and enjoy the game… calmed my nerves a little bit and it helped me enjoy my game. There are a lot of inputs he has given me throughout and they have not just helped in cricket but also helped me in life,” the youngster added.
