Rohan Gavaskar, son of legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar, has backed Virat Kohli-led side to make a strong comeback after its disappointing defeat against New Zealand in the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) final.
According to Rohan, Team India should not be judged on the basis of just one Test. He feels that the people should look at the bigger picture and need to appreciate the team for its ultimate success in the longest format of the game over the past couple of years.
Speaking on the YouTube channel ‘Cricket Life Stories’, Rohan Gavaskar said, “This is an excellent cricket side. You’ve got quality cricketers in this team.
“Yes New Zealand were better than us in that Test but that doesn’t take away anything from the fact that we have done well in the last couple of years,” he added.
Team India lost the WTC finale to Kane Williamson-led side by eight wickets at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
Following their loss, Virat Kohli and his men were highly criticised by the fans on social media platforms.
India will next face the Joe Root-led England in the five-match Test series which is scheduled to take place from August 4.
Indian players are currently enjoying their 20-day break from bio-bubble life before starting their preparations for the England series.
