The World Cup-winning captain stated that media often goes harsh on the team after one bad outing but ignored its achievements.
“They are reaching the semi-final or final every time, isn’t that an achievement in itself? We criticize very quickly. You can’t win the trophy every time. Look at how well they played. If they lose one match, does that mean they are succumbing to pressure?,” Kapil Dev said on Sports Yaari’s YouTube channel.
“We see it very critically – one bad performance and the media shows it a hundred times. We have all won a lot of games under the same pressure as well,” the 62-year-old added.
The WTC final loss was India’s fifth straight defeat in the ICC events since 2013. Fans were not pleased with the team’s performance in the summit clash and they brutally trolled Kohli and his men on social media. Some of them even demanded Virat’s sacking.
Meanwhile, India are currently gearing up for the five-match Test series against England which is scheduled to start from August 4.
