Former India cricketer, Naman Ojha has heaped praise on Rishabh Pant after his impressive performances with both bat and gloves during the ongoing Test series against England. Following his batting heroics in the 2020-2021 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the young wicketkeeper-batsman has continued his prolific run with the willow in the first two games against England in Chennai.
Pant looked in sublime form behind the wickets in the second Test at the Chepauk as he took a couple of brilliant catches during the first innings before pulling off two quick stumpings in the second.
Lauding Pant’s efforts against Joe Root-led team, Ojha asserted that the 23-year-old southpaw will become India’s best wicket-keeper in the next year. He also highlighted that the youngster is a “tremendous” batsman and is only going to improve with time.
Speaking to Sportskeeda, the 37-year-old said, “Rishabh will improve day-by-day. If he is keeping in Test matches, definitely he will improve in one-dayers and T20Is. It is very tough to keep in a Test match. Rishabh is also a tremendous batsman. I am sure that he will improve and, in the next year, he will become the best keeper.”
Ojha also praised KL Rahul for his keeping skills, saying the 28-year-old batsman has improved his glovework in the last couple of years.
“KL Rahul has improved as a wicketkeeper. His fitness is very good. He is doing it for the last year or so, keeping in one-dayers and T20s. He is a match-winner with the bat. He and Rishabh will definitely improve,” added Ojha, who recently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
