Babar Azam and Najam Sethi
Babar Azam to be sacked as Pakistan captain in ODIs and Tests

The PCB recently underwent several changes. Firstly, the apex cricketing board of Pakistan sacked Ramiz Raja and re-appointed Najam Sethi as the new chairman.

Secondly, the board sacked their chief selector, Mohammad Wasim and hired legendary cricketer Shahid Afridi as the interim chief selector.

There were murmurs that Pakistan skipper Babar Azam might soon face the axe because of his underwhelming performance as a captain since he failed to clinch a solitary trophy and lost two finals. Further, under his leadership, Pakistan failed to win three straight home Test series.

Babar had a wonderful run with the bat in 2022, as he was the leading run-getter across all formats. The Men in Green are currently hosting New Zealand for the ODI series.

In the latest developments, there are reports that the PCB might soon axe Babar from his leadership duties in the ODIs and Test cricket.  The 28-year-old will continue to lead the side in the T20Is as Pakistan will soon go for different captains in all three formats.

According to a Pakistani news agency, Sarfaraz Ahmed, who returned to Test cricket after four years, might get another chance to lead his nation in Test cricket.

Meanwhile, the recently appointed vice-captain, Shan Masood, is most likely to replace Babar as the skipper in the one-day international format.
