Bangladesh stunned India by one wicket in a low-scoring thriller in the first ODI. The Rohit Sharma-led side was disappointed with the bat and got all out for 186, registering their 2nd lowest ODI total against Bangladesh.
KL Rahul was the savior for the team with his 70 ball- 73 run inning. Things turned quickly for the 30-year-old as he received flak for dropping an easy catch for the final wicket that could have sealed the win for India.
Rahul kept wickets for India in Rishabh Pant’s absence, whom the BCCI released from the squad after advice from the medical team. The news was made public after the toss, and the apex board did not explain Rishabh’s absence.
The fans assumed the players to be aware of Pant’s situation, and even the media asked KL Rahul to shed some light in the post-match conference. The LSG star replied that he and the rest of the squad learned about Rishabh in the dressing room.
“I am not aware of why Pant was released, to be honest. I do not know the reasons and got to know in the dressing room.”
“In the dressing room, I asked, ‘where is Pant, and what happened?’ then we got to know that he has been released. We did not ask many questions because we had to focus on the game.”
