Pakistan’s vice-captain Shadab Khan is likely to face the axe. The star all-rounder, who was their key contributor during the 2022 T20 World Cup, had a disastrous Asia Cup as he took just six wickets and could not contribute with the bat.
The Pakistani media has reported that spinner Abrar Ahmed, who rose to fame after the England Test series, is likely to be included in the team. The spinner has 38 Test wickets in 6 games and is yet to make his ODI debut.
There is another report that Shadab might be stripped of his role as vice-captain. Chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq would soon decide on Abrar’s selection.
