Mohammed Shami happily accepted the request of the women’s team all-rounder Deepti Sharma to click a picture with her brother. The two met during the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards function in Mumbai on Wednesday, August 21.
Shami was surrounded by paparazzi when Deepti asked the speedster to click a photo with her brother.
Shami won the ODI Bowler of the Year award. In 2023, the 33-year-old picked up 43 wickets in 19 matches, with 24 of them coming at the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
He is out of cricket since conclusion of the global tournament in India. Shami was nursing an ankle injury and underwent surgery. The veteran has started bowling in the nets and recently visited the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
He will not play in the upcoming Duleep Trophy and the two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
According to reports, Shami will return to competitive cricket with Bengal’s opening match in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. There is a possibility of him playing in the second or third Test against New Zealand.
