Mohammed Shami, who made his India debut a decade ago, took his 400th international wicket in the ongoing first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and became the 9th Indian to take 400 wickets.
Shami’s 400th wicket was of David Warner, where he sent the southpaw’s off-stump cartwheeling and produced one of his career’s finest deliveries with a beautiful seam position.
Talking of seam, former Pakistani all-rounder Azhar Mahmood made a stunning remark where he said that Shami once contacted him for an issue with his ‘seam position’.
Shami, who won the IPL with Gujarat Titans, played for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2013. Speaking to Hindustan Times, the 47-year-old recalled the time when Shami asked for his help.
” I have worked with Shami. One time he was having an issue with his seam position and sent me a text message and I helped him. I feel that sports have no boundaries. I want to work with guys like Umran, Siraj, and Shami.”
“Whenever I see Bhuvi and Shami come and ask me about their issues, I help them. It does not matter whether they are Indian. I am a coach, and I should not mind working with anyone.”
Mahmood, who guided Desert Vipers to the final of ILT20, concluded by saying that he would love to work as a coach in the IPL.
