KL Rahul scored a hundred in the second ODI to take the score to 284/7 in Rajkot. It was Rahul’s 8th ton in the fifty-over format. New Zealand were brilliant with the ball and kept taking wickets at regular intervals to keep the score below the 300-run mark.

Rohit Sharma and captain Shubman Gill added 70 runs for the first wicket, with the latter amassing 56 runs off 53 balls before Kyle Jamieson got rid of him. Rohit departed after managing 24 runs off 38 balls, with Kristian Clarke taking his wicket.

Shreyas Iyer failed to get going and posted just 8 runs off 17 deliveries before becoming Clarke’s second wicket of the day. Clarke gave the biggest setback to the Men in Blue when in-form Virat Kohli was played on after contributing 23 runs off 29 balls.

Ravindra Jadeja and Rahul stitched a partnership of 73 runs for the fifth wicket to take the score to 191/5 from 118/4. New Zealand skipper Michael Bracewell got into the act and took a brilliant catch of Jadeja, who took 44 deliveries to score 27 runs.

Rahul continued scoring despite the fall of wickets from the other end and added 57 runs with all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who faced 21 balls to score 20.

Harshit Rana couldn’t do much and returned to the dressing room after amassing 1 run. He became debutant Jayden Lennox’s first wicket, with the bowler conceding 42 runs.

Apart from Clarke (3 wickets), Kyle Jamieson, Zak Foulkes, Lennox and Bracewell took 1 wicket each.

Meanwhile, Rahul remained unbeaten on 112 runs off 92 balls, including 11 fours and 1 six.
