Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have agreed to trade senior Indian pacer Mohammed Shami to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of IPL 2026 auction. According to ESPNcricinfo, it is an all-cash deal, with LSG paying INR 10 crore, the price Shami was bought at the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Both teams have agreed on the move, pending the fast bowler’s approval. The governing body of the IPL has set 3 pm on November 15 as the deadline for the 10 teams to submit the list of players they are releasing from their squads.

Shami, who is 35, has failed to regain his place in the Indian National Cricket Team since he competed in the final of the Champions Trophy 2025. While he has been playing for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy, the right-arm speedster admitted that he was going through challenging times after he was not picked for the two back-to-back Test series at home.

He was not included in the team for the five-Test series against England, immediately after he had an ordinary IPL 2025 with the Sunrisers. In 9 matches, Shami took 6 wickets at an average of 56.16 with an economy rate of 11.23.

SRH had paid INR 10 crore at the mega auction after his impressive outings for the Gujarat Titans (2022-24). In IPL 2022 and 2023, he took 28 wickets in the first six overs. He missed the IPL 2024 due to injury and managed just 5 scalps in nine innings in the powerplay in IPL 2025.

Shami has been struggling with his fitness and pace, and SRH head coach Daniel Vettori was willing to release him before the offer from Lucknow Super Giants.

AT LSG, Shamni will work with former India bowling coach Bharat Arun. LSG pacers Avesh Khan, Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan have been impacted by injuries, and the decision-makers decided to bring Shami on board. In another big trade deal between the Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings, Sanju Samson has joined the five-time champions. On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran have been signed by RR.
