India wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson was at his absolute best in the fourth match of IPL 2021 between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
In his first match as a captain of the Rajasthan-based franchise, Samson played a valiant knock of 119 runs off just 63 balls but it was not enough for his team to register a win.
The game looked all but over for the Royals when PBKS posted a monumental total of 221 runs on the board with the help of KL Rahul, who played a match-winning innings of 91 runs off 50 balls.
Rahul was well supported by Deepak Hooda as the all-rounder smashed 64 runs off 28 balls, laced with 6 sixes and 4 fours.
In reply, Samson put up a good fight and nearly took his team over the line. However, his efforts went in vain as RR fell short by 4 runs.
The 26-year-old would be disappointed with his team’s loss against KL Rahul-led side but famous actor Mohanlal’s recent tweet might bring some smile on his face.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, Mohanlal thanked Sanju Samson for gifting him a RR jersey and also wished his side all the luck.
“Dear @IamSanjuSamson thank you for the jersey. May @rajasthanroyals achieve success under your captaincy this season. All the very best to the team,” the 60-year-old tweeted.
Responding to actor’s tweet, Samson wrote, “Thank you Laletta.”
