Delhi Capitals spinner Axar Patel, who was tested positive for novel coronavirus before the start of Indian Premier League 2021, will join the DC camp very soon. The 27-year-old is currently kept in isolation at a designated medical care facility.
DC’s director, Mustafa Ghouse recently provided an update on Patel’s health conditions. He revealed that the Gujarat-born player has been doing better and is into his 10th day of quarantine process.
“Axar is better. Saturday will be day 10 of his quarantine process. Hopefully 3-4 more days, a couple of negative tests and he will be ready to join the team. We are running tests on him over the next few days to know how quickly we can get him back, available for selection,” Ghouse told Sports Today.
Furthermore, Ghouse informed that Shreyas Iyer, who recently underwent successful shoulder surgery, has been in constant touch with his DC teammates and the head coach, Ricky Ponting, ahead of the side’s campaign opener on April 10.
“Shreyas is gutted that he is not part of the team. He is in constant touch of the boys and Ricky. All we have to do now is make sure that he is on path of recovery and getting back to playing at the level he has been before,” Mustafa added.
The Delhi-based franchise will be up against the three-time champions, Chennai Super Kings, in its first match of the IPL 2021 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
