West Indies legend Brian Lara has expressed his concern over Mumbai Indians’ performance in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. One of the strongest teams in the tournament, MI, have won just two games out of their five matches so far in the IPL 2021 and are currently placed in the middle of the points table.
As the Rohit Sharma-led side would now move to Delhi for their next four matches at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Lara has said that he is “worried” about the defending champions this season.
Speaking on Star Sports’ Cricket Live show, the 51-year-old said, “I mean, it’s such a tournament that it’s so hard to say. I think the teams that are winning, like RCB, they will go to every venue with confidence. I think teams without confidence will see venues as a problem, they would see pitches as a problem.
“I’m worried about Mumbai Indians. They are now going to another venue, which again, is a bit sluggish. How are they going to perform this year?,” the legendary batsman added.
Mumbai Indians have had a jittery start to their IPL 2021 campaign as they lost to Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore by two wickets in the tournament opener at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
However, they bounced back to beat Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next two games.
After losing to Punjab Kings by nine wickets in their previous match, the five-time champions will be looking to get back to their winning ways in the upcoming clash against the Rajasthan Royals on April 29 in Delhi.
