Imran Tahir

Imran Tahir played a crucial role in Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) Indian Premier League (IPL) triumph in 2019. The veteran South African spinner, however, has not quite managed to hold on to his spot in CSK’s line-up in the past couple of seasons.

Imran Tahir played just three games during the backdrop of last season and is yet to play a game this season. But, the 42-year-old is delighted with the MS Dhoni-led side’s solid start to their campaign.

After picking up 26 wickets in 17 matches for CSK in IPL 2019, he managed to bag just one wicket last season, which was played in the UAE. Though he is yet to feature for MS Dhoni & Co. in the ongoing IPL 2021, Tahir is patiently waiting for his chance.

“Sir When we can see u in XI’s #csk @ImranTahirSA ….Tamilnadu Waiting,” a fan asked him on Twitter. The Lahore-born cricketer was quick to respond and said it was not about him but the team and he will do his best for the team when given an opportunity.

“Thank you sir. Best players are in the field and they are delivering and they should continue for the teams benefit. Its not about me. Its about the team. I am extremely proud to be a part of this wonderful team. If I am needed sometime I will give my best for the team,” he responnded.

Tahir’s classy response won hearts on Twitter as fans applauded him for his commitment towards the team. CSK defeated Rajasthan Royals by 45 runs on Monday and jumped to the second spot in the IPL 2021 points table. They will now take on KKR on Thursday.
