BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar has reacted to Shami's statement.

Mohammed Shami recently slammed the BCCI selectors for not giving him a chance to represent India in the ODI series against Australia. Shami said that he is fit, and it is not his job to provide updates to the decision-makers.

Shami last played for the Men in Blue in the ICC Champions Trophy, and despite his brilliant bowling display, he has been kept out of the national team.

BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar has reacted to Shami’s statement. “I would have answered if he said that to me. If he were here, I would have done that. I don’t know what he said. Maybe if I go through his comments, I might give him a call. My phone is always on for the players. I had several chats with him in the last few months, but I don’t want to give you a headline,” Agarkar told NDTV.

“He has been a top performer for India. If he said something, it should be discussed between the two of us. If he were fit, he would have played against England. He was not, and the domestic season has just started,” he added.

India will play three ODIs and five T20Is against Australia, starting October 19. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have returned for the fifty-over format.
