Jaydev Yadav recieved a text from R Ashwin after the former was ignored for the series in Australia. India were hit by a lot of injuries during the tour but the visitors managed to win the Test series.
Unadkat was the leading wicket-taker in the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy, with 67 wickets in 10 games but was not considered by the national selectors. The 30-year played his only Test in 2010 while his last match for the country was a T20I in 2018.
In his interview with ESPNcricinfo, Unadkat spoke about his career. “Ashwin Bhai texted me during the last Australia tour, where nearly every member of the team played due to injuries to main players. “I feel for you after seeing your performance in the Ranji but don’t lose hope as your time will come.”
Despite being an experience campaigner, he hasn’t been supported by coaches and selectors.
“There have been times when I was told that they couldn’t accomodate me as a net bowler because of my seniority. It is tough when you see India travelling overseas with a big squad,” he added.
