Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru hosted one of the finest games in the history of IPL, as Lucknow Super Giants registered an epic win against RCB on the last ball of the match to go top of the table with three wins in four games.
RCB, batting first, put 212 runs on the board courtesy of a fifty-plus score from the top three batters. Further, LSG got off to a poor start as they lost three wickets in the power play. The match turned when Marcus Stoinis stitched a 76-run stand with KL Rahul. Stoinis amassed 65(30). Nicholas Pooran was the start of the match, as he smashed the fastest fifty of IPL 16 in just 15 balls to bring his side back into the game.
Further, the drama continued as RCB took two quick wickets, and Ayush Badoni’s hit-wicket had the KL Rahul-led side sweating. However, courtesy of a failed mankading attempt by Harshal Patel and misfield by Dinesh Karthik, Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi stole a bye on the last ball.
Cricketers reacted to LSG’s famous win and praised Nicholas Pooran and others on social media platforms. Yousuf Pathan wrote, “IPL at its best! another day, another thriller. Full on entertainment, 425 runs were scored by both sides. Aakir mein Pooran ki behtareen paari ne dilaayi @LucknowIPL ko jeet.”
