BCB shifts the venue for the final ODI against India

India will tour Bangladesh after seven years to play three ODIs and two Test matches from December 4- 26.

According to the fixtures, Dhaka will host the ODI series and the 2nd Test, while Chittagong will welcome India for the first Test match. However, the Bangladesh cricket board was forced to make a major change just a week before the team’s arrival.

The BCB has moved the final ODI from Dhaka to Chittagong after a potential political protest in the city around the same time.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), the opposition party, have announced their idea to stage a protest in Dhaka.

The cricket board expects hundreds of thousands of people to take to the street, and it will be difficult for them to conduct the final ODI peacefully.

However, BCB operations chief Jalal Yunus refused to admit the protest as the reason behind the venue change and said that the board felt that Chittagong should host a one-day game as well.

The opposition party has staged several protests in the recent few months, as they want to force the current Bangladesh PM, Sheikh Hasina, to resign from her post. Meanwhile, it will be India’s first tour to Bangladesh after seven years. The last time the Men in Blue visited Bangladesh, they lost the ODI series and the red ball series ended in a draw.
