DC vs GT Records on offer
DC skipper Warner has captained 70 times in the IPL so far.

Senior Australian cricketer David Warner will be keen to continue from where he signed off in Delhi Capitals’ opener against Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. DC lost the match by 50 runs but Warner slammed a solid 46-ball 58. Warner, who is the 3rd-highest scorer in the IPL, can become just the third player in the competition’s history to slam 6000 runs when his side takes on the Gujarat Titans in match number 7 on Tuesday at the Kotla.

DC are in need of a win and will want their skipper to come good and rally the side against defending champions Gujarat. Warner has scored 5937 runs in the IPL at an average of 42.10. He has 60 scores of fifty-plus in the tournament ( 50s 56, 100s 4) which is the highest for any player. Versus Gujarat, Warner needs to score 63 runs to become the first foreigner to slam 6000 runs.

Besides Warner, former RCB legend AB de Villiers is the only foreign star to score 5000-plus runs in the IPL. Notably, Warner has the best average among the top 10 run-getters in the IPL.

Possibility of Warner getting to 2000 runs for DC versus Gujarat

Warner, who returned back to DC in IPL 2022, has scored 1923 runs for the franchise at 32.05. He has two tons and 16 fifties. The rest of his IPL runs have come for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Warner can become the 4th player to score 2000 runs for DC. He needs a tally of 77. A player such as Warner has thrived in the fifties and tons, this is another big possibility he achieves this record in this match itself. Warner, who has 73 sixes for DC, can become the 4th player with a tally of 75-plus.

Warner’s opening partner Prithvi Shaw needs six fours to notch a mark of 200 for DC (194). He can become the sixth player to achieve this mark.

Warner can better Gilly’s captaincy win record to attain this feat

Former SRH and interim DC skipper Warner has captained 70 times in the IPL so far. As per ESPNcricinfo, he has claimed 35 wins, besides suffering 33 losses, with two matches ending in a tie. Warner can now steer clear of Adam Gilchrist, who also enjoyed 35 wins for Deccan Chargers and Punjab. A win versus Gujarat will see Warner become the fifth-most successful captain.

Other records on offer in the DC-GT contest

Gill and Pandya can surpass 2000 IPL runs

Gujarat duo Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya are on the verge of surpassing 2000 IPL runs. Gill, who was his side’s top scorer last season, started IPL 2023 with a bang, smashing a solid 63 versus CSK. He now needs 37 runs to clock a mark of 2000 in the IPL, having scored 1963 runs at 32.71.

Meanwhile, Gujarat skipper Hardik Pandya has smashed 1971 runs at an average of 29.86. He is 29 runs shy of the 2000-run mark. Both players can also get past former IPL star Michael Hussey (1977) in terms of runs. Pandya can become the 2nd player after Gill to surpass 500 runs for the Gujarat side. He has accumulated 495 runs at 41.25. He can also get past 50 fours (49) and become the 2nd player after Gill (57).

Rovman Powell can get to 3000 runs in the 20-over format

West Indies all-rounder Rovman Powell can be a handy asset for DC in the middle order. He has scored 2940 runs in the 20-over format in general and is 60 shy of the 3000-run mark. With 12 fifties and a century under his belt, Powell, who failed versus LSG, will look to go big and achieve this milestone.

Kuldeep can surpass Murali and Shakib

DC’s left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav has claimed 62 scalps in the IPL at 27.75. He is two wickets away from surpassing the likes of Muttiah Muralitharan and Shakib Al Hasan in terms of wickets (63 each). By claiming 4 scalps in the match, Kuldeep can get past Jacques Kallis, who managed 65 scalps.
