Team India’s head coach Ravi Shastri has to face the wrath of fans on social media platforms after the Virat Kohli-led side suffered 8-wicket defeat in the final of the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) against New Zealand at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
Virat Kohli was confident of winning his first ICC trophy as a skipper but Team India failed to perform against New Zealand.
Kane Williamson’s men put up an all-round show on the last day of the WTC final and outclassed Kohli & Co.
Chasing a paltry 139-run target to win the marquee clash, Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor performed exceedingly well and stitched an unbeaten partnership of 96 runs for the third wicket. Eventually, New Zealand won the match without any fuss.
Williamson’s gritty knock of 52 runs off 89 balls on the Reserve Day also earned him a lot of plaudits from several past and present cricketers.
Meanwhile, Indian fans were not pleased with the team’s performance in the summit clash and they took to social media and slammed Shastri and Kohli.
Following India’s disappointing defeat, #RaviShastri started trending on Twitter.
