Former Indian players Mohammad Kaif and Deep Dasgupta indirectly blamed Virat Kohli for India’s defeat in the third and final ODI against Australia in Chennai.
Virat’s wicket opened the gates for Australia, and with Suryakumar Yadav losing his wicket on the next ball against Ashton Agar, India were almost out of the contest.
“Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav’s wicket brought the game in Australia’s favor. Kohli played a reckless shot, which played a role in India’s defeat,” said Mohammad Kaif.
“Virat should have stayed till the end as there was no requirement for that kind of shot. Hardik Pandya was left with too much of a task, and the pressure got better off him in the end,” said Deep Dasgupta.
The 34-year-old accumulated 54 off 72 balls, with the help of two fours and a six. Australia won the series by 2-1 after winning the Chennai ODI by 21 runs.
