Chennai Super Kings recently announced several personal changes to their squad as they let go of their star player Dwayne Bravo. However, the good news for the yellow army is that the franchise successfully convinced Ravindra Jadeja to stay.
Notably, Jadeja, who donned the captain’s hat last season, had a disastrous run and was forced to step down, resulting in Mahendra Singh Dhoni leading the side for the remainder of the season.

Nevertheless, the club and the players have shifted their focus to the forthcoming season, and it is not a hidden fact that it could be Dhoni’s last season with the franchise. The management would also look for potential future leaders.
There are reports that the club are looking to rope in former Punjab Kings captain Mayank Agarwal and SRH skipper Kane Williamson in the mini-auction on December 23 in Kochi.
If the team sign them, they have good captaincy options in their bucket, but former India opener and Punjab Kings batting coach Wasim Jaffer feels otherwise.
The 44-year-old has named the player he would love to see leading CSK in the coming years. Of all the experienced options, Jaffer backed 25-year-old Ruturaj Gaikwad to be the new captain after MS leaves.
“When MS leaves, CSK will stick with Devon Conway as the wicketkeeper. I feel Gaikwad would be the best fit for the captain’s role. He captains Maharashtra as well. He needs to be trusted and given added responsibilities.”
