Nitish Kumar Reddy’s exceptional all-round performances for Sunrisers Hyderabad last season not only showcased his talent but also earned him a well-deserved spot in the national team. His impressive form led to his inclusion in the playing XI for the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia. However, the 21-year-old hasn’t bowled in the Indian Premier League 2025. Former bowling coach of Sunrisers Dale Steyn is surprised. He questioned Nitish’s exclusion from the bowling lineup.

Dale Steyn voiced his frustration with Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins and the management for not providing Nitish Kumar Reddy an opportunity to bowl. Taking to X, former South Africa pacer wrote, “Have SRH just forgotten that Reddy can bowl…? Has a bit of a golden arm, absolutely worth an over or two.”

Steyn believes that the youngster has immense potential with his “golden arm,” making it puzzling that he hasn’t been given a chance to bowl.

Steyn shared his thoughts during the IPL 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, where Cummins’ team was defeated by six wickets.

“If he’s injured, then it’s understandable, but he seems to be batting just fine,” Steyn wrote.

After recovering from a side strain that had sidelined him from the T20I series against England, Nitish Kumar Reddy made his IPL return. Steyn also noted that Reddy’s excellent batting form suggests that any injury issues are no longer a concern.
