Jhye Richardson Mumbai Indians IPL 2023
Mumbai Indians finished last in IPL 2022.

Jhye Richardson has been ruled out of Australia’s ODI series of India, and his stint with Mumbai Indians is also unlikely after he injured his hamstring in his first-grade game after months.

He had not played any game since straining his hamstring on January 4. The injury was not considered seriously initially, and it was hoped he would return for the Big Bash League finals, but it took him two months to make a comeback.

He missed the Perth Scorchers title-winning campaign and has not played Marsh Cup or Sheffield Shield cricket.

He was named in Australia’s 16-man ODI squad for the three-match series in India that starts on March 17 in Mumbai.

Nathan Ellis has replaced the injured pacer. He made a return to cricket on Saturday for his club side Fremantle against Wanneroo in a 50-over fixture, but he bowled 4 overs, in which he took 3 for 5, but left the field and headed for a scan.

Mumbai Indians bought him for INR 1.5 crore, and he is the second pacer after Jasprit Bumrah, who will not play in IPL 2023.
