England all-rounder Chris Woakes has reached his career-best third position in the ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings among the bowlers after his brilliant performance in the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka.
Woakes, who picked up six wickets in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, including the four-wicket haul, has jumped four slots in the list led by New Zealand pacer Trent Boult.
The 32-year-old is now sitting just behind Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz with 711 rating points.
Woakes also overtook his teammate Ben Stokes to achieve the third spot in the latest all-rounders ranking and is now only behind Shakib Al Hasan and Mohammad Nabi.
His previous best ranking in the bowlers’ category came in September 2020 when he attained the fourth position.
Moreover, Chris Woakes’ fellow pacers David Willey and Tom Curran also gained positions in the latest ODI rankings.
While Willey has moved up 13 places to the 37th position, Curran has advanced 20 slots to grab the 68th spot.
Willey was rewarded with the ‘Player of the Series’ award for his outstanding bowling exploits against Sri Lanka. The 31-year-old fast bowler took nine wickets in three games.
For Sri Lanka, captain Kusal Perera has moved up one place to the 41st position after scoring 82 runs in the series against the Eoin Morgan-led side.
