Overview:

India and New Zealand will now clash in the second ODI in Rajkot on January 14.

Ravichandran Ashwin is renowned for his insights on cricket. He recently commented on India vs New Zealand’s first ODI, where the former completed the target of 301 runs in 49 overs, with 4 wickets in hand. New Zealand came back strongly into the game and reduced the rivals from 234/2 to 279/6. It was down to KL Rahul and Harshit Rana, who completed the job in the end.

“A lot of teams are not driven analytically. However, New Zealand are analytically driven side. I want to sit down with them and observe how they plan for the games. I am ready to pay if needed. I want to sit in their team meetings to observe how to plan and execute them,” R Ashwin said.

“New Zealand deserve a lot of credit for the way they fought in the game. They didn’t give up till the end, and that’s why they were able to put India under pressure. New Zealand don’t have a strength in their squad when it comes to man-to-man. However, their discipline, fielding and execution of plans allow them to fight and compete with the rivals,” he added.

He mentioned that India didn’t play well in the game. New Zealand were impressive. India didn’t play good cricket. Harshit bowled and batted well,” he remarked.

“Virat Kohli’s batting was another positive. He once exposed all three stumps in front of Kristian Clarke, who followed him, but he managed to hit a four with a flick,” he concluded.
