The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 28 runs, securing their second straight victory in the Indian Premier League 2024. All the eyes were on Virat Kohli as he became the first player to play 100 T20 matches at a single venue, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, Kohli’s innings was cut short as he was dismissed for 22 runs off 16 balls by young spinner M Siddharth, who claimed the prized wicket of the former RCB captain.
M Siddharth scripted history by dismissing Virat Kohli as his first-IPL wicket. The prized scalp came after Kohli and Faf du Plessis put on a 40-run opening stand for RCB against LSG. With this breakthrough, Siddharth became only the 10th bowler to take Kohli’s wicket as his maiden scalp in the tournament. He also joined the elite club, becoming the sixth Indian bowler and fourth spinner to accomplish this rare feat in IPL history.
Here is the list of bowlers who picked up Virat Kohli as their first wicket.

After the match, Tamil Nadu spinner confessed that taking Virat Kohli’s wicket was his dream. He also shared his strategy of keeping things simple, focusing on his strengths, and hitting the right lengths.
“Since my childhood, I had dreamed of taking his wicket, which everyone knows is the most coveted wicket you can get. I am elated to have finally achieved this feat. My strategy was simple – play to my strengths by focusing on hitting the right lengths. I knew it will help me to perform well for the team.” said Siddharth.
After the match, LSG head coach Justin Langer revealed that in the dressing room, the first thing he asked M Siddharth upon meeting him was whether he could dismiss Virat Kohli for them. Langer praised Siddharth for keeping his word.
