Argentina defeated France 4-2 in penalty shootout to win the final of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. It was their first World Cup win under Lionel Messi, who was playing his last tournament.
Messi is the first player to score in the group stage and every round of the knockout stage in a single edition of the tournament.
It was his 26th appearance at the World Cup, breaking a tie with Germany great Lothar Matthäus.
