Yuzvendra Chahal was one of the best performers for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. Despite his excellent track record, he was not retained for IPL 2022. There were reports that he wanted more money and when the team refused, he decided to give his name for the auction.

In his latest interview with TOI, Chahal cleared the air around his demand for money and why he refused to play for the franchise.

According to him, he was never after money and would have happily stayed back if the management had asked him but he was only told that he would be on the target list during the mega auction.

“I got a call from Mike Hesson, the director of cricket, who informed me about the three retained players – Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj. I was never asked about my view. He told me that they would go after me at the mega auction. It was never about money. Had they asked me to stay back, I would have played for RCB,” said Yuzvendra Chahal.
