Robin Uthappa was in sublime form against Royal Challengers Bangalore at DY Patil stadium in IPL 2022. The opening batter of Chennai Super Kings amassed 88 off 50 balls, including 9 sixes and 4 fours. He and Shivam Dube ( 95 not out) took CSK to 216/4 in 20 overs.
However, Uthappa was unsure about winning the game as he thought RCB could chase it down. “I was unsure as RCB could have chased it down. When Ruturaj Gaikwad came to the dressing room after his dismissal, he said 150 would be enough as the ball was not coming onto the bat,” said Uthappa.
When Robin started batting, things changed dramatically after the sixth over, and he and Dube could hit the ball through the line.
“The pitch became favorable for the batters after the sixth over, and we could play our shots easily. I told Shivam to take on the spinners, and I would go after the pacers. When we posted 216, there was a feeling that these runs would not be sufficient. However, we won the game by 23 runs,” he added.
