Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar has lauded Gujarat Titans all-rounder Rahul Tewatia.

The equation had come down to 12 runs off 2 balls, and Rahul Tewatia dispatched Odean Smith’s deliveries for two big hits to win the game for Gujarat Titans. It was looking all over for GT after Hardik Pandya’s run-out, but Tewatia’s class once again prevailed in a high-scoring and tense chase.

Chasing 190, Gujarat was kept in the hunt by Shubman Gill, who scored his career-best 96 before being dismissed by Kagiso Rabada. The young Indian batter hit 11 fours and a six. However, his departure brought all the pressure on Hardik, and David Miller’s mistiming of the balls further made things challenging for the unbeaten side in the tournament.

However, Rahul scored an unbeaten 13 runs off 3 balls, including two sixes, to take Titans to 6 points from three games and to the top of the points table.
