A lot was said and written about Virat Kohli’s chances of scoring runs in IPL 2022 after he resigned from RCB captaincy. The 33-year old left the leadership role after the tournament’s last edition. However, his form has gone from bad to worse.
He was dismissed for a golden duck in the most recent match against Lucknow Super Giants. Virat got out for a first-ball 0 for only the 4th time in the IPL and the first time in 5 years.
Kohli was undone by a bounce in Dushmantha Chameera’s delivery and was caught by the point fielder. The 33-year-old has managed just 119 runs in 7 matches at an average of less than 25. A section of fans took to social media and urged the franchise to drop him for a few games.
Speaking about Virat’s lean patch. RCB head coach Sanjay Bangar opined that a big score is just around the corner.
“He is going through a lean patch, but he is training hard. If he hasn’t scored a big one in 7 innings, a big one is around the corner.”
