Sourav Ganguly has given a befitting reply to fans and former cricketers for comparing Rishabh Pant with MS Dhoni.

Former India captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has given a befitting reply to fans and former cricketers for comparing Rishabh Pant with MS Dhoni. The young southpaw has often been kept on the same parameters as Mahi in the recent past. Ganguly feels it is unfair to even think about the two on the same length, saying MSD’s experience as a captain is unmatched.

Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant faced the heat for his captaincy in their last league game against Mumbai Indians. He made a big mistake in a do-or-die contest as he didn’t take a DRS against Tim David.

Ultra Edge replays showed David had edged the delivery from Shardul Thakur, but Pant refused to go for the technology despite persuasion from the teammates. The big hitter went on to score 34 off 11 balls.

DC would have qualified for IPL 2022 playoffs had they defeated Mumbai Indians, but Rishabh’s blunder was one reason for their early exit. “Don’t compare Pant with MS Dhoni. He has captained in 500-plus games in IPL, Tests, and ODIs. So it is not fair for the young player to be compared to one of the game’s legends,” Ganguly said, as quoted by the PTI.
