The Rajasthan Royals lost two knockout matches to Gujarat Titans to finish runners-up in the Indian Premier League 2022. The Royals were impressive throughout the season with Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra winning the Orange Cap and Purple Cap, respectively.

Many players contributed for the Royals and one of them was youngster Riyan Parag. He was a livewire on the field and took 17 catches in the 15th season.

Parag scored 183 runs in 14 innings including a half-century against Royal Challengers Bangalore. His knock took RR to 144/8 in 20 overs.

However, there was a heated argument between Parag and the RCB players after the final over. He has finally opened up on the incident.

“Last year, Harshal Patel dismissed me. When I was walking back, he made a hand gesture telling me to go away. I didn’t see that on the spot. I saw that when I came back to the hotel. It stuck in my mind since,” Parag recalled.

“Now, when I hit him (Harshal) in the last over (against RCB in IPL 2022), I did the same gesture. I didn’t say anything, I didn’t abuse. Mohammed Siraj called me. Harshal didn’t say anything.

“He said, you are a kid, behave like a kid. I told him, ‘bhaiya, I’m not saying anything to you’. By then players from both the sides came and it ended there. Later, Harshal didn’t shake hand with me, which I thought was a bit immature,” he added.
