MS Dhoni’s sudden resignation from captaincy shocked many in world cricket. The veteran decided to step down from captaincy two days before the start of IPL 2022 and handed over the captain’s armband to Ravindra Jadeja.
Dhoni led the side for 12 years and won 4 IPL titles as a captain. Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar was not impressed with the timing of Dhoni’s decision. “I did not understand the timings of his call. He is still the best player in the IPL. I think he must be mentally tired and wanted to play freely, and that is why he handed over the responsibility to Jadeja,” he said.
“Jadeja is an outstanding cricketer, and he will try his best to win games for CSK, but Dhoni is one of the minds you can count on,” Akhtar added.
\Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings lost the first game under Jadeja’s captaincy. The Kolkata Knight Riders thumped the Yellow Army by six wickets at the Wankhede stadium.
