Kieron-Pollard
Mumbai Indians legend Kieron Pollard has announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League.

Kieron Pollard has announced his retirement from international cricket, but he will continue playing T20 leagues across the globe. He is currently playing for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022. So far, MI have lost six games, and a couple of more defeats will end their playoffs hope.

Pollard’s poor form has been the major concern for the five-time champions. The 34-year-old has struggled to score runs freely in the tournament.

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has questioned the West Indies all-rounder’s place in the playing XI.

He said Pollard shouldn’t be included as a batter, and MI must only back him if he is ready to ball. He has bowled just seven overs in six games so far, scalping one wicket and conceding runs at an economy rate of 10. With the bat, he has scored 82 runs at an average of 16.4.

“He has to bowl to be in the team as other bowlers are under pressure, and he has an experience of bowling in tough situations. If he is playing as a batter, then MI will have to look at his contributions with the bat,” said Sanjay Manjrekar.
