Former Indian batter Virender Sehwag stated that RCB have changed after Sanjay Bangar’s arrival as head coach and Faf du Plessis as skipper. RCB are in the playoffs, and the management has stuck with almost the same playing XI, which wasn’t the case in Virat Kohli’s tenure.
Du Plessis has been quite impressive with his captaincy as RCB won eight out of their 14 league-stage games and have made it to the knockout stage despite a negative net run rate.
Sehwag noted how RCB changed their thinking after the entry of Bangar and Du Plessis. He mentioned that Virat used to drop players after a few ordinary performances, which impacted the team in the tournament. The legendary cricketer also said Bangar would have been forced to listen to Virat if the latter had been the skipper.
“The arrival of Sanjay Bangar as head coach and a new captain has changed the franchise. Virat used to drop players after no performance in 2-3 games. But Bangar and Du Plessis have been consistent with players. Except for Patidar for Anuj Rawat, I don’t think they made any changes due to poor performance,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.
“If Virat was still leading, players and Bangar would have been forced to accept his suggestions, which is not the case anymore,” he added.
