Former England captain Michael Vaughan feels Rohit Sharma has lost his touch with the willow in IPL 2022 after getting India’s captaincy. Mumbai Indians have lost six successive games in the tournament and have not yet opened their account. MI is placed at the bottom of the points table.
Rohit has scored just 114 runs in the six games played so far. His batting average has come down to 19:00 in the 15th season of the tournament.
Vaughan feels that the 34-year-old’s performance has seen an alarming dip since he took over from Virat Kohli across formats.
“Rohit Sharma is an issue. Since he got the Indian captaincy across formats, Rohit has failed as a batter in international cricket and the Indian Premier League. He has played a few knocks, but that has been many from his bat. It would be a concern for me that Rohit has failed to use his India captaincy as a confidence boost for his game to go up,” he said while speaking to Cricbuzz.
Mumbai made a comeback and won the championship after losing four consecutive games in IPL 2015, but Michael believes it will not be easy for MI to make a comeback this year.
