Rishabh Pant has come a long way in his career. Despite being just 24, Pant has already seen many ups and downs, which has also been filled with comparisons. First, he was backed to be the next MS Dhoni, but his batting reminds many of Adam Gilchrist. Furthermore, Delhi Capitals’ head coach Ricky Ponting has compared Pant with India and Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma.
“I think they both are pretty similar. When Rohit sharted leading India, he was a young man of similar age as Rishabh Pant is today.
“To be honest, they are actually quite similar. They exchange things about leadership and captaincy along the way as well,” he said.
Ponting backed Pant to emulate what Rohit has achieved with Mumbai Indians.
“There is a possiblity of Rishabh achieveing the same success what Rohit has achieved in the IPL. Taking over as a young captain of a successful franchise and growing o9n a daily basis. Hoepfully, Rishabh can have the same success that Rohit had,” he added.
Ponting also spoke on Pant’s chances of leading India in future. “I have got no doubt that in year to come, there is every chance that Rishabh could be international captain,” said Ponting.
