Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer Umran Malik has been one of the top performers in IPL 2022. He has impressed everyone with his pace.
In SRH’s clash vs Delhi Capitals (DC) last week, he bowled the second fastest delivery in the history of the cash-rich league that clocked 157kmph.
Ahead of the 15th season, SRH retained him for a big amount of Rs. 4 crore despite him playing just 3 games for the Orange Army. The decision has paid rich dividends as Umran has taken 15 wickets in 11 matches this season, including a five-wicket haul against Gujarat Titans (GT).
However, his performances have dipped in the last three games, with Malik conceding 125 runs in 10 overs without a single wicket to his name,
Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has sternly warned the 22-year-old fast bowler that pace is not the only important thing, and he will have to bowl in the right areas. “It is important for him to learn that 156 kmph is brilliant and has a good future. However, if you don’t get it right, 156 will go for 256 off the bat. This is what is happening with him at the moment,” said Ravi Shastri.
“The pace is good, but you got to get the line and length right. He has to bowl in the right areas,” he added.
