Many cricket experts have slammed Sunrisers Hyderabad for not retaining Rashid Khan. The criticism has grown louder after SRH’s below-par performance in the 15th season of the league.
Earlier, it was reported that Rashid wanted the top spot in the retention list, but the management turned down his request, considering their likeness for Kane Williamson.
Gujarat Titans signed Rashid for a whopping price of INR 15 crore before the mega auction in Bengaluru.
Now, former Sri Lanka cricketer and one of the members of the Sunrisers’ support staff, Muttiah Muralitharan, has broken his silence on the issue.
According to him, they wanted to retain Rashid but could not afford him.
“We did not want to get rid of Rashid Khan, but we could not afford him,” he said.
Rashid has been magnificent for his new franchise Titans and has played a crucial role in their success so far.
