Mumbai Indians booked Royal Challengers Bangalore’s place in the playoffs of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 as they defeated Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets. MI’s victory was a must to seal RCB’s place in the knockout stages of the match, and they did what the entire Bangalore-based franchise had requested before the game.
Delhi finished their campaign on 14 points from as many games in the 15th season of the game. Earlier, Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited Delhi to bat first. The Rishabh Pant-led team were restricted to a score of 159, with Jasprit Bumrah taking 3 wickets.
Chasing 160, MI lost Rohit Sharma early in the innings, but Ishan Kishan (48), Dewald Brevis (37), Tim David (34) and Tilak Varma (21) spoiled the Capitals’ plan. RCB will face Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator.
