Mumbai Indians have been a shadow of their outstanding track record in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. With their latest defeat against Punjab Kings by 12 runs, they have stretched their losing streak to 5 matches in the 15th season of the tournament.
This is their worst start in the competition. The five-time champions are the first team in the tournament’s history to lose five successive games in two editions. Prior to the ongoing edition, they went through the same pool of poor results in 2014.
The seventh season was played in two legs due to general elections in India. The first half went to the UAE, and the second returned to its home country. Kolkata Knight Riders made a remarkable comeback under Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy and won the league for the second time.
