MS Dhoni has been a part of the Indian Premier League since 2008 and has played for just two franchises in his career so far. When Chennai Super Kings were banned for two years due to their official’s involvement in spot-fixing, Mahi was added to the squad by Rising Pune Supergiant.
He returned to his old franchise when it completed the ban period. In IPL 2022, he became the second player after Virat Kohli to play 200 matches for a team in the league.
MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli are the only two players to play 200 or more games for a single franchise in IPL history.
Earlier, the 40-year-old was reappointed as CSK’s skipper when Ravindra Jadeja stepped down from his leadership post following the team’s poor performance in the competition. Under Jadeja, CSK lost six and won just two contests.
He urged Dhoni to return as captain, which the legendary skipper accepted. MSD won the first game on his turn as the team’s leader.
