Umran Malik has been sensational for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2022, with the 22-year-old taking 18 wickets so far. He has bowled in excess of 150 kmph in almost all the games and has earned praise from experts and fans. Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar believes Malik can break his record of the fastest delivery. Akhtar holds the record with 161.3 kmph delivery he bowled against England in the 2003 ICC World Cup.
“For the first time I have seen someone who is bowling 150 kmph + consistently and I will be happy if Umran breaks my record. I want to see him playing for India as he belongs to world stage. Only a few days back, someone was saying to me that it has been 20 years and your record is still not broken. I believe records are meant to be broken and I will be happy if Umran does that,” he told Sportskeeda.
“I want Malik to keep 100 kmph mark in his mind and join that special club,” he added.
In a match against Delhi Capitals, the 22-year-old bowled a 157 kmph delivery.
