India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal paid tribute to former teammate and Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds, who passed away at 46 following a car crash. Chahal and Symonds were teammates at Mumbai Indians during the Indian Premier League in 2011, which was Symonds’ last IPL season.

“I have lost my closest man. Will miss you terribly. You were just not a colleague. My family, my man. My Symonds uncle. I will miss you terribly. RIP,” tweeted Chahal.

Chahal was yet to make his IPL debut when Symonds was his teammate. He was tied with the rope by Symonds and James Franklin and forgotten the whole night by the two former cricketers.

In 11 matches for MI, the Australian player scored 135 runs and took one wicket.
