Gujarat Titans recently won the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 in their maiden season. The Hardik Pandya-led team defeated Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The two men, who worked behind the scenes, were Gary Kirsten and Ashish Nehra. Ashish Nehra became the first Indian coach to win the IPL trophy in its 15-year history. Kirsten revealed Ashish’s success mantra and his philosophy as a coach. The former India pacer is a firm believer in having different plans and strategies to deal with the ever-changing scenarios of a T20 match.
“Ashish wants players to have options for a match as a set game plan doesn’t work in the IPL. The players need to think for themselves and adjust their game according to the situation,” he said.
The South African player, who has batted against Nehra in the past, shares a good bond with the legendary pacer.
“Ashish is a close friend, and we have walked a long journey together. He is tactically one of the best coaches in the IPL and is always talking to his players about improving the performances,” added Kirsten.
