Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul has been fined 20 percent of his match fee for an unspecified breach of the Code of Conduct

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul scored a brilliant century against Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2022. The right-handed batter took the crease as an opener and scored an unbeaten 103 off 60 balls. As a result, LSG went on to score 199/4 in 20 overs.

Soon after the skipper reached the three-figure mark, the 29-year old removed the helmet and came up with his trademark celebration with both his hands near his ears and eyes closed. His celebration was aimed at shutting down the outside noise and criticism. However, former India player Sunil Gavaskar said such a celebration is uncalled for.

“He is shutting down the noise when he got a century and should take the applause from the fans. He should do this when he is dismissed on a low score. When you got a hundred, take it and enjoy the applause as everybody applauded you,” Gavaskar said.

“I do not understand, let all the applause come through and don’t shut it. When you score a zero, one, two, three, four, or something like that’s when you put fingers in ears,” he added.
